Further DAA COVID-19 Status Update (3-12-20)
DAA Community:
I hope this note finds you all doing well and remaining healthy.  We wanted to provide everyone with the latest update on the spring season for Davidsonville Athletic Association.  Consistent with Governor Larry Hogan's announcement extending the closure of schools for an additional 4 weeks (until April 24th), Anne Arundel Recreation & Parks has postponed the county spring season until further notice, but at least until April 24th.  The county still hopes to be able to offer a spring season, but they have not yet come to any conclusions or made any recommendations.  While the parks will remain open throughout the county, they were very clear in their instructions that no team activities of any kind may take place at county properties.  Also, the playgrounds at the county parks are closed at this time until further notice.
DAA will continue to monitor the situation and update you further as we know more.  At this point, we are not canceling the spring season.  However, if the county gives us an indication that the spring season will be canceled, we will be in touch about how we intend to process refunds for all registrants for this spring, including for travel/club teams that had paid for a full year and only played a portion of the year.
If you have any questions, you can always reach out to the DAA Secretary ( ) or me.  Thank you, and please continue to wash your hands and engage in social distancing.
Go Gators!

President, Davidsonville Athletic Association

Greetings DAA Families,

The developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus continue to move at a rapid pace, so we wanted to send you an update now that both Anne Arundel County and Governor Hogan have issued press releases in the last few hours.  There are sure to be additional press releases and updates, and we will do our best to keep you all informed.
As you know, DAA's top priority continues to be the health and safety of our community's young athletes and their families.  Therefore, we will continue to monitor guidance from county, state and federal health authorities regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our community.
As of now, Anne Arundel County has NOT suspended outdoor youth sports activities, however we anticipate such an announcement in the coming days based on other agencies' recent announcements.  Therefore, DAA has decided, effective tomorrow (Friday, March 13th), to suspend all DAA youth sports activities until further notice.  Our sincere hope is that regular activities can resume on Monday, March 30th, after students have returned to school, but any decision to return to normal activities will be informed by guidance from the county, the state, and public health officials.
You can monitor all developments with regard to any County cancellations or closures here:
As a reminder, the following measures are recommended to help prevent the spread of viruses, including the coronavirus:
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Click here for handwashing tips from the CDC
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Cover cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
We advise the following to all players, coaches and parents:
  • As always, remain home if symptoms of fever, body aches, chills, respiratory issues are present
  • Remain home until symptom free for 24 hours
  • If symptoms present during practice or games, the player will be sent home
We would also like to remind you to please take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves and our community from this and any illness.
Thank you for your continued support and confidence.
