Davidsonville Athletic Association is a non-profit organization administered by a volunteer board whose mission is to promote, encourage, direct and operate athletic programs for the children and youth of the Davidsonville area, Anne Arundel County.

My my My my

Gators Softball is dedicated to teaching good fundamentals of softball to develop the skills required to advance our players to the next level of play, while having fun doing it. We have an open communications policy and stress continuous process improvement of our organization including reviews of the coaches, organization, policies and direction to keep moving the program forward.

After seeing the success of our new 14u Select Team in the Fall of 2018, DAA has decided to expand to offer additional softball offerings for both the 8u and 10u age groups. The 14u and 10u teams will be Select level play and will play at a “C” level Tournament class. The 8u Coach/Kid Pitch team will play in a local Rec. League that will play similar level teams in Anne Arundel and PG County.

Please see details on the individual DAA Softball programs listed below and if you have any questions about DAA Softball, please email our commissioner at or call 443-852-4589.

Gators Select Softball

Gators Select Softball is an exciting Fast Pitch Softball program that supports Davidsonville and the surrounding community. Gators Softball is an entirely volunteer-run organization serving girls in Davidsonville, Crofton, Gambrills and surrounding communities. The Gators Select Softball program emphasizes individual commitment, motivation, team cohesion, position-development, all while still having fun in a more competitive game environment!

The Gators Select Team philosophy is to provide a lower cost alternative to the typical select season, while providing girls the opportunity to compete against elite competition, as a result the majority of our tournaments will be in Central Maryland. We also believe that girls may be given a primary position during elimination play, but coaches and the program are committed to developing every player at multiple positions.

14U Select Softball

The DAA 14U Select Team was started in the fall of 2018 to be the start of the DAA Softball program. It started with a small core of Select level players and became an opportunity for players to be on a team to be at a more competitive level, while still have a main focus on team and player development.  The 14U Team has an incredible coaching staff comprised of non-parent coaches and even has College Players that coach and train the players. The 14U Team will be focused on training and scrimmages, while playing in USSSA Tournaments throughout the Spring and Summer months.

10U Select Softball

10U Select - This team is not a typical select team, it is C level select team, which is the lowest tier, and has been created as an introduction to travel-style softball. This team is year round, with try outs generally in July, and supplemental try outs on an as-needed basis. The difference in this and most select teams is that even though it is a year round team, the fall season is only a loose instructional based season, with 1-2 practices per week and no games. This gives time to focus on areas to improve on, and gives more time to focus on individual players strengths and weaknesses without having to worry about game schedules. This also allows time for girls to play other sports they may be interested in during the "off" season. Scrimmages may be arranged for evaluations in this season sporadically. The winter season will have light work outs/specialized training sessions over a few weeks, spread out through the winter, and then the Spring is a season in the Central Maryland League, made up of other appropriate level select teams. Games are usually played as double headers on weekends, beginning in late March or April scheduled by the coach, and are not every weekend. The number of games varies by season, with a league tournament at the end of the season in late June. Registrations will be open to 9 &10 year olds with DOB between 1/1/08 - 12/31/09.

8U Coach/Kid Pitch Softball

8U Rec - A softball program for girls 7/8 years old with little to no experience. The 8u Team will play other local Rec teams that play games that feature a hybrid of coach-pitch and kid-pitch. There are no tees used at this level, games before May are entirely coaches soft tossing to players. Every player bats, and there are both outs and strike outs, but no walks. Beginning in May, kid pitchers are introduced for two innings per game for the rest of the season. The focus of this level is to continue the development of fielding, by introducing force outs and situational play, as well as introduce beginning pitching and mechanics, and playing the catcher position in full catchers gear. Games are held twice per week, usually one weeknight and one weekend. Practice schedules vary by coach and team, but are generally twice per week for 60-90 minutes before games start, and then once or twice per week based on game schedules after games begin. Teams are kept small to ensure as much playing time as possible, and play features an 11-inch incrediball, a softer version of a typical softball. Players must have a glove, and cleats, and for safety and hygiene issues, it's suggested that each player also have their own helmet with facemask, and a fielder's mask. Practices will begin in mid to late March, weather permitting, with games beginning in mid to late April and running until June. Registrations will be open to 7 & 8 year olds with DOB between 1/1/10 - 12/31/11.

Space is limited so make sure you register right away!
