Welcome to South River’s youth-recreational cheerleading program!

Cheerleading is a sport that uses choreographed routines from elements such as tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting.

It boosts team spirit and promotes good sportsmanship.

At South River, our goal is to create a fun, exciting, and safe cheerleading environment for girls ages 5 – 14.  Not only do we support the football team, we strive to promote competitive cheerleading by teaching proper skills and techniques, the importance of teamwork, respect for each other, as well as training in the sport of competition cheerleading.

Not only is Cheerleading a great sport, it promotes team building skills, learning to work with others, self-esteem and confidence, not to mention pride in what they have learned and are able to accomplish.  And, they will make new friends that they will have for a lifetime!

Please join our exciting program and see what your child can learn.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

ALL PRACTICES ARE MANDATORY - COMPETITION

It is extremely important that every cheerleader is at every practice and on time. We begin practice on time and start the cheerleaders with stretching. If your cheerleader is late, they will not be able to join the squad in practicing the routine until they have properly stretched. Early on in the season, determinations are made as to the positions of each cheerleader for the routine (i.e. flyers, side bases, back spots, and front spots). When a cheerleader is absent for a practice, that build group will not be able to build during that practice. This is considered a safety issue as the girls are not able to gain the full potential of practicing, which could result in someone being injured unnecessarily. Please contact your coach as soon as possible if your cheerleader will be late for practice.

As a competition approaches, please anticipate additional mandatory practices to be added to the schedule. From past experience, it has been noted that these additional practices have really helped prepare the cheerleaders for the upcoming competition.

*All practices are closed practices. We thank you in advance for your support.

**We will distribute a CD with the music for the routine. Please have your cheerleader practice the routine as much as possible at home.

COMPETITION DATES

TBA

* ATTENDANCE AT ALL COMPETITIONS IS MANDATORY

COMPETITION ATTIRE

Cheerleaders must have the following for all competitions:

Full uniform (top and skirt)

White crop top and Sparkly briefs

Hair Ribbon and No show white socks

Cheer shoes (colors: outside blue, inside orange)

ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY, FINGERNAIL POLISH, OR MAKEUP

TRAVEL TO COMPETITIONS

For each competition, all SRG cheerleaders will meet in the morning, at a location to be determined prior to the competition, and caravan to the competition (excluding the Ocean City Competition – see below). If for some reason, your cheerleader will not be able to meet at the designated location on time, please contact your coach immediately to make other arrangements. Once all cheerleaders have arrived at the competition, the coaches will then take them to registration and prepare them for their performance. We ask that the cheerleaders remain with their squad until they perform.
