DFC (Travel Soccer)

Davidsonville Football Club (DFC) provides a competitive travel soccer environment for players who love the game and are committed to developing their skills, understanding of the game, and passion for soccer.

At DFC, our mission is simple:

Develop great players. Support great families. Build a strong soccer community.

We believe player development should be intentional, challenging, and fun. Our coaching staff works to create an environment where players are encouraged to take risks, develop confidence on the ball, and build a lifelong love for the game.

🤝 Community Club Environment

What to Expect at DFC

DFC travel teams train in a structured, year-round development environment designed to maximize player growth and opportunity.

Training Commitment:

• Two team training sessions per week during Fall and Spring
Club-wide Academy Nights, which provide a third weekly training opportunity for all travel players during Fall and Spring
• One team training session per week during Winter (November–February)

Competition Commitment:
• Fall and Spring league play through MSYSA-affiliated leagues
• 3–4 tournaments per year

• Winter League Play - May include futsal, indoor, or outdoor environments

  • High school age teams may opt out of Fall league play to allow players to participate in their high school seasons, often then participating in additional tournaments in the Spring.

Academy Nights:

“Academy Nights” are a unique feature of the program at DFC, creating an academy-style training environment, where players from multiple teams within the same age group train together.

This structure allows players to:

• Train alongside a wider pool of players
• Experience different coaching perspectives

• Create dedicated weekly time for ball mastery and motor development

Player Placement:

DFC may carry multiple teams within an age group, depending on player interest and evaluations, allowing players to be placed in an environment that best supports their development.

Placement considers:

• Current ability
• Developmental readiness
• Training habits and commitment
• Long-term player growth

Movement between teams may occur when appropriate to ensure players continue to be challenged.

What Makes DFC Different

DFC combines community club values with a modern player development approach.

Key elements of our program include:

• Professionally licensed coaches
• Coaches with collegiate and professional playing experience
• A structured club-wide coaching curriculum
• Academy-style training environments
• Positive coaching methodology focused on player growth
• Opportunities for players at multiple competitive levels within each age group

Our focus is on developing confident, capable players who understand the game and enjoy playing it.

Facilities

DFC trains and competes at some of the premier soccer facilities in Anne Arundel County.

Our fields feature well-maintained, lighted Bermuda grass playing surfaces, providing an excellent environment for both training and competition.

Maintaining high-quality fields is an important part of creating a professional training environment for our athletes.

Tryouts & Player Evaluations

DFC conducts annual tryouts each spring, typically in April and early May.

Important notes:

All players — new and returning — must register for tryouts
• Teams may carry multiple teams within an age group depending on player interest and evaluations
• Team placement is based on player evaluation and developmental readiness

Players interested in joining outside of the tryout window may also be evaluated during the year depending on roster availability.

DFC will align tryouts/evaluations with the new competition age groups as outlined by U.S. Soccer. Information regarding the upcoming U.S. Soccer age group shift can be found here:
